Brookvale is located 16 kilometres north-east of Sydney CBD and is part of the Northern Beaches region.
Some interesting facts about Brookvale:
- Brookvale is surrounded by the following six suburbs: Beacon Hill, Narraweena, Dee Why, North Curl Curl, North Manly and Curl Curl
- The first development in the area was in 1836 when 64 hectares of farmland was granted to William Frederick Parker
- Brookvale Post opened in June 1888
- Brookvale Oval is the home ground of the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles National Rugby League team. The Manly Leagues Club is located nearby
- Brookvale Brickworks was opened in 1913 which used clay from quarries on Beacon Hill which became medium density housing after its closure in 1996. The development is now known as “The Kilnes” which houses apartments and townhouses
- Warringah Mall Shopping Centre first opened in 1963 and included 53 stores
- Brookvale houses Brookvale Bus Depot (Sydney Buses). In November 1970, June Lusk, the first women to be trained, drove a bus out of Brookvale Depot, ending years of resistance to women bus drivers
